Suggestions for a Smoother Running Game
Some Things to be Take in to Consideration.
In our last game, many players were ill prepared for the game. To smooth things over, so we can start game on a relatively timely schedule, and have a lack of milling around prior to game. Here are some things that would be helpful.
1) Have your character sheet ready before hand. Too many players are requesting their character sheet prior to game, which in the end delays the Storyteller to give the go ahead to begin game. The easiest solution to this is ask Kurt the afternoon prior to game or arrange another day with Kurt prior to game.
2) Have your weapon cards dealt with prior to game, suddenly up and asking Kurt in the middle or 5 minutes before game starts for weapon cards is poor preparation. Kurt is available on Friday afternoon prior to game or arrange another day with Kurt prior to game.
3) Trouble with holding onto your character sheet or always loosing it. The easiest solution is purchase a small notebook where you can keep your game notes and your character sheet. If you're always loosing your character sheet, perhaps head down to a photocopier at the public library spend the $1.00 and photocopy your character sheet 10 times. Personally I have my own character sheet entered on my computer, so if it is lost I can print it out.
4) When in combat, if an argument arises, keep your voice down, there's no need to yell over the situation. You may have become personally attached to your character, but it's only a game, there's no need to yell or have an extensive argument with the storyteller over a ruling.
5) The Storyteller is in charge of game rules, it is our job as players to accept these rulings. I am aware that there are many players who have extensively studied the books, but some times the rules need to be cut in order to have the game run smoothly and we're are not entranced into a mass combat for 3 hours. Listening and obliging to the story teller's rules, argue if you must, but remember there may be 20 people all standing there becoming impatient due to your argument.
6) Consideration, towards holding up the game, remember when there is mass combat and you begin a heated argument over a ruling, that you are holding up people. As representation of the players, I am sure not one of you like to pay $3.00 to stand around for 2 hours becuase of arguments that have taken place that slow game down. This is waste of time and this is a waste of your money and the other players.
If you have any questions or comments about this please don't be afraid to reply and address myself or the board members regarding the Martinsborough by Night game. And remember that you're paying for the game to exist, and continue running, so your opinions and concerns do matter.
